Hope Baptist Church (HBC) is prayerfully seeking a man of God to fill the full-time role of Senior Pastor. We desire a man of God that mirrors the character traits mirrored in Galatians 5:22-23. HBC has leadership and congregation that prayerfully seeks to do God’s will but needs a patient leader to come behind us and live as an example of the Word of God before us. Hope Baptist Church of Theressa, Florida is in a rural setting between the towns of Starke, Hampton, and Keystone Heights and has been serving and ministering to this local community for 150 years. Hope Christian Academy, established in 2001, is an outreach ministry of Hope Baptist Church, offering education spanning pre-K through 12th grade. The school operates with a curriculum grounded in biblical principles, integrating scripture and daily prayer into its core academic subjects. The new Senior Pastor will have the opportunity to play an integral part in both ministries. Senior Pastor Job Description Accepting Resumes from October 5, 2026-November 25, 2026. Priority will be given to resumes submitted in the first thirty day. Qualifications of the Position: o The ideal candidate must have the ability to teach sound biblical doctrine and demonstrate practical leadership skills. A formal theological education is not mandatory, but it can demonstrate a candidate’s commitment to be a strong spiritual leader by rightly dividing and being firmly grounded in the Word of God. o The candidate must meet the qualifications for an overseer set out in 1 Timothy 3:1-7, Titus 1:5-9, Acts 6:1-4, Acts 20:28, and 1 Peter 5:1-4 and will be examined through references, interviews, and background checks. Pastors Primary Biblical Roles and Responsibilities: o Set the Example. Model the Christian life in doctrine, conduct, purity, and love. (1 Timothy 4:12) o Feed The Flock. Ability and readiness to preach and teach the scriptures and devote himself continually to prayer and the ministry of the Word and teach others to do the same. (Acts 6:4; 2 Timothy 4:2) o Equip the Saints. Train and mobilize members for the work of the ministry (Ephesians 4:11-12) o Shepherd Souls. Provide pastoral care, counsel, visitation, and discipleship, knowing he will give an account for those in his care. (1 Peter 5:2-3; Hebrews 13:17) o Guard The Church. Watch over himself and the congregation, protecting it from false teaching and those that oppose the Word. (Acts 20:28-31) (Titus 1:9) Pastors Other Roles and Responsibilities: o Plan and conduct the worship services (prepare and deliver sermons, lead in the observance of the ordinances of the church) o Oversee/Supervise the two part-time paid staff of the church o Counsel with and assist in the training of the deacons and ministry leaders according to their responsibilities o Serve as a non-voting member of all Hope Baptist Church committees and the board of Hope Christian Academy o Appoint and provide guidance to committees as set forth in the bylaws and other special committees as the church may request or he may deem advisable to enhance the spiritual welfare of the members o Provide clear direction and guidance of various ministries including evangelism, visitation, men and women’s, youth, children, and the overall education of the church To those who feel that God is leading them to this position are asked to submit a resume and references electronically to finance@myhopebaptistchurch.org or via USPS at ATTN: PSC, 3900 SE State Road 100, Starke, FL 32091.
